Mobile App Privacy Policy

Introduction 

Please read this Mobile App Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) carefully to understand Connecticut Attorneys Title Insurance Company a/k/a CATIC (“Company” or “we”) policies and practices regarding information we may collect from you on this App and how we will treat it. 

Downloading, accessing, or otherwise using the App indicates that you have read this Policy and consent to its terms. If you do not consent to the terms of this Policy, do not proceed to download, access, or otherwise use the App. 

This Policy may change from time to time. Please check the ‘last updated’ date at the top of the Policy. Your continued use of the App after we make changes shall be deemed to be your acceptance of those changes, so please check the policy periodically for updates. 

Children Under the Age of 13 

THIS APP IS NOT INTENDED FOR CHILDREN UNDER 13 YEARS OF AGE, AND WE DO NOT KNOWINGLY COLLECT PERSONAL INFORMATION FROM CHILDREN UNDER 13. IF WE LEARN WE HAVE COLLECTED OR RECEIVED PERSONAL INFORMATION FROM A CHILD UNDER 13 WITHOUT VERIFICATION OF PARENTAL CONSENT, WE WILL DELETE THAT INFORMATION. IF YOU BELIEVE WE MIGHT HAVE ANY INFORMATION FROM OR ABOUT A CHILD UNDER 13, PLEASE CONTACT US AT HELP@CATIC.COM 

We may collect the following information through the App: 

Information you may provide when you use the App; 

Information about your usage of the App, including crash logs and usage statistics; 

Information about your device and its interaction with the App, including the type of mobile device you use with the App, its unique user ID, IP address, and operating system, and the type of mobile Internet browsers in use; 

We may use the information collected through this App in the following ways: 

To review the quality and improve the functionality of the App 

To better improve the way the App works with your device 

To create new Apps 

To provide anonymized user analytics and industry benchmarking 

If this information is not required to be retained pursuant to judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process, this information will be deleted when it is no longer needed to provide the services associated with the App, unless it has been anonymized and no longer contains personally identifiable information. 

We may use cookies and/or other web tracking technology through this App. While Apps at this time do not recognize automated browser signals regarding tracking mechanisms, such as “do not track" instructions, you can generally express your privacy preferences regarding the use of most cookies and similar technologies through your web browser. You consent to their use by using this App. 

You may opt-out of all collection of information by CATIC by uninstalling this App from your mobile device.

We are not responsible for the practices or policies of the websites linked to or from this App. If you elect to use a link that accesses another party’s website, you will be subject to that website’s practices and policies. 

Disclosure of Information We May Collect to Third Parties 

We generally restrict access to non-public information that is submitted by you on the App to those employees and other third parties who need to know such information in order for us to provide certain services to you. CATIC does not sell or rent such information you choose to provide to us to any third party. Also, we will not disclose such information you provide to us to any third party without your consent, except: 

(a) as required by law; 

(b) to independent contractor(s) who host, maintain or service the App; 

(c) to a buyer or other successor in the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of CATIC’s assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which information held by CATIC about our App users is among the assets transferred or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which personal information held by CATIC about our App users is among the assets transferred; 

(d) to enforce our rights arising from any contracts entered into between you and us, including the Term of Use and this Policy; and 

(e) if we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of CATIC, our customers or others. 

If we collect non-public information submitted by you on the App, you may also send us an email at help@catic.com to request access to, correct, or delete any such information that you have provided to us. We may not be able to delete such information except by also deleting your user account. We may not accommodate a request to change such information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or cause such information to be incorrect. 

Your California Privacy Rights 

California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits users of our App that are California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of any personal information we collect to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. Information Security 

If you are required to provide non-public information to the App, we will make reasonable efforts to implement measures designed to secure such information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. The safety and security of such information also depends on you and you should take reasonable efforts to protect such information. Unfortunately, the transmission of any information via the internet and mobile platforms is not completely secure. Although we make reasonable efforts to protect non-public information you may provide to the App, we cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted through our App. Any transmission of information is at your own risk. Further, we are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures we may provide.
